Almost a month away from beginning of Festival dança em foco, idança publishes a gallery with videos selected by one of the curators of the festival, Paulo Caldas. He explains his selection:

“Rodrigo Alonso, an Argentinean researcher, wrote in 2007 – about the Latin-American video production – that for ‘some strange reason, a considerable amount of works take place in bathrooms and bedrooms’. But what the essayist recognized doesn´t seem to be limited to our geography: the five pieces brought together here – some of them were already screened in Dança em Foco – come from Australia, Brazil/England, the United States, Israel and Sweden, and all of them use the same setting: the bedroom and, in it, the bed, above all. But, because of the diversity of choreographic and solutions in the space that is common, no common-place is produced; and it is always admirable to realize how something recurring can unfold into new meanings: what matters, as Godard would say, ‘is not where you take thing from, but where you take them’”
