The 2010 edition of dança em foco – Festival Internacional de Vídeo & Dança is open for submissions. Those interested in participating in MIV – International Videodance Showcase can submit until January 31 by filling the application form (with information about the work and the director) at the festival’s website and sending the video to the appointed address.

The 2009 edition of dança em foco had some very respectable numbers: more than 300 submissions from 14 different countries, about six thousand spectators and four cities outside the Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo circuit. “It was a very good year. We occupied more than one floor at Oi Futuro, our audience increased and we created unprecedented activities, like an installations and performance. Each year we are able to bring something new to improve information about videodance, which is still a language between two other languages”, co-director Regina Levy celebrates.

Another reason for celebration in 2009 was the maintenance of the festival’s touring project, made possible by the sponsorship of Caixa Econômica Federal. It took place in Belém, Teresina, Goiânia e Manaus. In 2010, the capital of Amazonas will be replaced by Porto Alegre. “The partnerships we conquered in other cities allowed us to organize smaller modules and that was reflected in audience numbers, interest and even in the submissions. Our main goal is to circulate”, she evaluates.

Besides travelling around, another aim for the festival’s directors for 2010 is to open a grant program for production. “Our expectation for the next year is very good”, Regina says.
