A coreógrafa e bailarina alemã Pina Bausch morreu na manhã de hoje (30/06), aos 68 anos, na Alemanha. A notícia foi dada por um porta-voz do Tanztheater Wuppertal, companhia dirigida pela artista, que informou que a artista soube que estava com câncer há apenas cinco dias.
Pina nasceu em 27 de julho de 1940, em Solingen, na Alemanha. Começou seus estudos em dança em 1955, na escola Folkwang, de Essen, e depois foi para Nova York. Regressou à Alemanha em 1962 para integrar a companhia de Kurt Jooss, onde começou a desenvolver a dança-teatro que revolucionou a forma de dançar e tornou seu trabalho admirado em todo o mundo. Desde 1973 ela dirigia o Tanztheater Wuppertal, com o qual dançou no último domingo (28/06).
Entre as produções mais conhecidas de Pina estão Komm tanz mit mir (1977), Keuschheitlegende (1979), Café Müller (1978) e a versão de A Sagração da Primavera (1975). Em 2007, ela ganhou o Prêmio Kyoto, em homenagem a sua obra, que rompeu as fronteiras entre dança e teatro. Em setembro está programada a vinda do Tanztheater Wuppertal a São Paulo (leia mais aqui), quando será apresentado o mesmo programa que a companhia trouxe ao Brasil em 1980 (primeira turnê brasileira), com Café Müller e A Sagração da Primavera.

German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch died this morning (30/06), at age 68, in Germany. The news was given by a spokesperson of Tanztheater Wuppertal, the company directed by the artist, which announced the artist only learned she had cancer a few days ago.
Pina was born in July 27, 1940, in Solingen, Germany. She began her dance studies in 1955, at the Folkwang school, in Essen, and later went to New York. She returned to Germany in 1962 to be a part of the Kurt Joos company, where she started to develop the dance-theater that brought a revolution to dance and made her work praised all over the world. Since 1973 she directed the Tanztheater Wuppertal, with which she danced last Sunday (28/06).
Among Pina’s most famous productions were Komm tanz mit mir (1977), Keuschheitlegende (1979), Café Müller (1978) and a version of The Rite of Spring (1975). In 2007, she won the Kyoto Award, in tribute to her body of work, which broke the barriers between dance and theater. Tanztheater Wuppertal is scheduled to perform in São Paulo, with the same program the company brought to Brazil in 1980 (the first Brazilian tour), with Café Müller and The Rite of Spring.
