Plataforma Itinerante de Dance (“Itinerant Dance Platform”). 12 seminars about financing and political organization has been circulating through cities in the state of Pernambuco, bringing information and answering questions about access to financing and means to produce dance projects.

Since August, a group of experienced professionals composed by Liana Gesteira, Marília Rameh, José Manoel Sobrinho and Carminha Lins has been going through the hinterlands of the state. The project started in Petrolina and will go on to Garanhuns (22 and 23/09) and Bodocó (25 and 26/09).

The encounters are divided in two stages. On the first day, the speakers talk about political organization, state and countrywide issues, presenting the State and National Dance Plans. The Platform also organized a production workshop, in which the participants created a panorama of the dance scene in the region, with regional evaluations about politics, training, artistic practice and financing. The second day is reserved for clearing doubts about financing, also followed by practical exercises.

After the first visits, the organizers were able to notice that each region has its specific needs, but everything producing dance outside the capital, Recife, have some points in common. “It’s common for producers and artists to complain about the lack of support from the government and the lack of transparency in the distribution of existing funds. Since there are no city-level programs, it´s not clear how the money is applied. The demand for professional training is also common, since there are a lot of people working as teachers in the interior of the state”, says Liana, one of the project´s organizers. “Despite the difficulties, we see there is intense artistic production in the interior, with performing arts festivals, people articulating”, she celebrates.

The platform was organized by Movimento Dança Recife and the organization Organização Trajetória Mundial (OTM), with funds from the Culture Ministry (MinC) and a partnership with SESC Pernambuco. The cities receiving the seminar were chosen based on the 12 Development Regions of the State of Pernambuco. “The idea is that we´ll produce a publication with the final results, documents, mappings of incentive programs in each region and the understanding and strengthening of nation, state and citywide edicts”, Marília evaluates.

Each seminar is open for 40 participants, both for the cities where they are taking place and neighboring ones. The applications can be made through e-mail dancarecife@yahoo.com.br or the number (81) 8704-1746.

O Movimento Dança Recife está promovendo a Plataforma Itinerante de Dança, com seminários para discutir questões políticas e econômicas da área em municípios do interior de Pernambuco.
